Deface Me… For Charity

The Opportunity

Every year, thousands run the NYC Marathon for charity. But with so many causes and fundraisers, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. To raise funds for NAMI-NYC and stand out in the sea of good intentions, I needed a way to spark curiosity, laughter, and donations.

The Insight

People are far more likely to give when they feel personally involved and entertained. Add a little moment of levity to the mix, and suddenly it’s not just about giving, it’s about owning a hilarious moment. When donors get to leave their (temporary) mark, the emotional deepens and they are more likely to donate

The Solution

Deface Me… For Charity: a campaign where anyone who donates can choose a temporary tattoo that I’ll wear while running the NYC Marathon. From ridiculous doodles to questionable phrases, the more you give, the more freedom you get.

Yes, even the forehead is up for grabs.

I turned embarrassment into an incentive, giving people a reason to laugh, share, and support mental health advocacy all at once.

The Results
